Hermit Island Swim & Paddle

Swim, walk or paddle your way around Hermit Island (Olmstead Island) on July 4, 2020.  All ages are welcome!  There will be two racecourses set up – one for swimmers and one for paddlers around the island. As well as a short children’s course where they can either run in the water or swim. There will be three traveling trophies given out. Our traveling trophies get to visit your home on Tomahawk Lake for one year and your name will be added to the TLA HISP plaque. Two of the trophies will go to the first female and the first male in the Swim Elite Wave. Swimmers wanting to qualify for awards may wear a wetsuit but are not allowed to use other devices to aid in speed such as fins. Swimmers in the friendly non-competitive wave can use any and all devices available that they bring with them. The third traveling trophy will go to the first person or team in from the Paddle Wave. Medals will be given to each child age 10 and under that participate in the Hermit Wave.

Registration will be from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. for all swimmers and paddlers. Even though there is no entrance fee for this event, you must register to participate as a liability waiver must be signed.  You MUST be registered by 9:45 a.m. to participate, so please get there early to sign the waiver.  Waivers can be downloaded off the tomahawklake.org website ahead of time and brought with you already signed to hand in at registration. This is suggested to save time at registration!

Donations are accepted for the buoy sponsorships, starting at $270/buoy or $100/paddle sponsors. Commemorative t-shirts, starting at $15/shirt are available ONLY at this event. TLA baseball hats, $15/adult, $12/child will also be for sale. Both items are available in youth and adult sizes. We have a few TLA fleeces left that sell for $35/fleece.  Bring a little bit of cash or a check written out to TLA to get your whole family matching Hermit outfits! All donations will be used to battle Aquatic Invasive Species and to ensure that the “Jewel of the North” stays beautiful and pristine for generations to come.
For questions ahead of time, please contact Meg Daly at meg@coachmegdaly.com or 414-331-6891. Come ready to compete, laugh and share in the good fun! What better way to start off your 4th of July activities?!

The Hermit hopes to see you there!
